BEHIND VELANTHRA

One creator. An entire world.

Velanthra3026 is the brainchild of British creator and creative director Chris Edwards.

THE IDEA

It began with a question: what would happen if humanity travelled to another world after being told that the laws of physics made returning to Earth impossible — and then someone discovered that this might not be true?

From that idea grew Velanthra: a detailed science-fiction world of settlers, corporations, families, workers and political institutions living with the consequences of humanity's greatest migration.

Chris created the original premise, characters, history and evolving storyline. He remains the project's creator, creative director and final decision-maker, guiding everything from the long-term narrative to the smallest details of its people and places.

"What would happen if humanity travelled to another world after being told that returning was impossible — and then someone discovered that this might not be true?"

Away from Velanthra, life is shared with his wife, Heather, and their two trusty companions, Rosie and Luna — better known as Muscles and Clunk. They provide company, interruptions and occasional production supervision, whether requested or not.

A HUMAN-DIRECTED AI PRODUCTION

The technology does not write the story.

Velanthra is built using a combination of human authorship, artificial intelligence and locally operated production technology.

AI assists with research, continuity checking, script development, visual production, video generation and the many practical jobs involved in turning a fictional universe into an ongoing screen drama. However, the technology does not independently determine the story. Creative decisions, canonical changes and final approvals remain under human direction.

Claude Sonnet, accessed through the Anthropic API, powers the project's principal production coordinator: DANTE.

DANTE

Dramatic Autonomous Narrative and Theatrical Engine

DANTE acts as Velanthra's production coordinator. It can consult the canonical lore, help develop episode scripts, check continuity, plan scenes, coordinate character and location assets, prepare image and video generation, manage production stages and assist with material for the Velanthra website and social channels.

DANTE is not a character within the fictional universe. It works behind the camera.

Claude Opus, Claude Code and OpenAI's ChatGPT and Codex tools are also used during development for planning, critical review, technical work and improving the systems that support the production.

CREATED LOCALLY

Built on a home server, not a rented one.

A substantial part of Velanthra's production pipeline runs locally rather than through remote video and image-generation services.

The system is hosted on an Unraid server and uses an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU to operate local generative-AI workflows through ComfyUI.

THE CURRENT PRODUCTION PIPELINE
Flux 2 Image generation
Wan 2.2 Video generation
InfiniteTalk Dialogue performance and lip-sync
FFmpeg Media processing and assembly
ElevenLabs Character voice generation
Lore vault & retrieval Continuity and canonical knowledge

This local-first approach provides greater creative control over the production process while allowing characters, environments and visual rules to be developed specifically for the Velanthra universe.

THE PURPOSE OF THE TECHNOLOGY

The technology is not the story.

Its purpose is to help one creator build something that would traditionally require a much larger production team: a continuing dramatic world with recurring characters, consistent locations, its own history and an evolving mystery at its centre.

Velanthra is an experiment in what independent storytelling can become when human imagination is supported by a purpose-built production system.

"The tools may help construct the world, but its direction, meaning and final voice remain human."
